Throughout history, some of the most successful people in the world used charts, biorhythms, calendars, and specific dates to find their auspicious days or to do something significant! Check out how it all started…
Biorhythms were first discovered around the 1900s in Austria and Germany. Dr. Herman Svoboda was a psychologist in Vienna and studied the recurrence of pain and swelling from insect bites, fevers, illnesses, and heart attacks. He also discovered a cyclic pattern in newborns refusing to eat. He received his doctorate for this work and after continuing his work even further, he discovered two very distinct 23 and 28 day cycles. He published several papers and books that described when these cycles occur and how to calculate them. Today, these are known as the Physical and Emotional cycles.
Dr. Fliess of Berlin was a good friend of Sigmund Freud in the 1890s (see photo). In 1910, he was president of the Germanic Academy of Sciences and published a paper titled ‘Der Ablauf Des Lebens’ (The Trace of Life). In this paper he confirmed Dr. Svoboda’s 23 and 28 day cycles through a number of studies performed on his patients. By tracing illnesses, the outbreak of fevers, and deaths back to birth, Fliess became convinced that the 23-day and 28-day rhythms could easily be calculated and were fundamental to human life.
In the 1920’s, Dr. Alfred Teltscher, both a professor and doctor of Engineering, observed a cyclic fluctuation in the intellectual capabilities of his students in a definite cycle that lasted 33 days. Practically at the same time, in the United States, some other scientists reported on similar findings for this third extraordinary, 33-day cycle.
George Thommen is a well known vocalist on biorhythms, having published a number of books (i.e., Is this your Day, 1973) and even publicly announcing that Clark Gable (while being hospitalized for a heart attack in 1960) should be extra cautious on the day that his physical cycle was critical. Unfortunately, Clark Gable died that day. His doctor later admitted that the actor’s life might have been saved if precautions were taken and the needed medical equipment was in place.
Since then, the research and the understanding of biorhythms has expanded to a number of other unique cycles on a global level. Research has also been performed on understanding the combination of different cycles and how they work in conjunction with the cycles of another person; hence the purpose of creating BioMate.
A number of doctors, government agencies in the USA (i.e., the National Safety Council, NASA, among others…), and large corporations in countries such as Japan and Switzerland have used biorhythms to effectively reduce the risk of death during operations, in automobile accidents, and from industrial hazards. Insurance companies also use biorhythms when looking at accident and death statistics, since the timing of these events show a strong correlation with these cycles.
